“I’ll never go back from Mitch Dowd Bamboo Trunks. The comfiest pair I’ve ever worn, they stick to your leg, don’t ride up and feel like you’re wearing nothing at all” UnderMyPants Customer April 2017
Mitch Dowd came from humble beginnings and has grown from the streets of Melbourne into an Australian empire. In 1987, budding artist Mitch Dowd rocked the fashion world when he released his hand painted boxer shorts. Starting in Chapel Street, Mitch set out to raise money for an exhibition. To do so, he hand painted 150 pairs of boxers and sold all them all in Chapel Street.
In one week, Mitch had raised enough money for his exhibition and set up a new business. It wasn’t long until Mitch was selling his underwear at Myer and David Jones. His unique designs of boxer shorts and trunks had started a boxer revolution in Australia!
Although starting an underwear revolution wasn’t enough for Mitch. He soon expanded his range from men’s trunks and boxer shorts to socks and sleepwear for men, women and kids.
In 1993 Mitch got his brother into the business. Mitch’s brother has a strong business acumen and was able to take over the commercial side of things. With Mitch’s brother taking care of business, Mitch was able to focus on his designs and take the business from strength to strength.
Starting in 1987 and expanding in 1993, Mitch Dowd continued to grow doing it their way. To this day, Mitch Dowd is still a privately-owned company. They are one of the only companies in the fashion industry to be privately owned and are definitely one of the only few in the underwear and sock industry.
For over 30 years Mitch Dowd has been leading the fashion industry in designs and fabrics for underwear and socks. Check out their Bamboo range for what some of customers have said are the comfiest pair of underwear they’ve ever worn.
